Some really horrible stuff to cap off your weekend.
I think I'm gonna be ill....
Think you're gonna be sick?!?! Hell, after the fat guy and the pig, I had to hit the back button...
A few of those made me laugh out loud.
OMFG!!! My eyes- MY EYES!!! MaKe ThE bLEeDiNg STOP!!!
Hey, how did they get my record collection?
Hey, hang onto them. They're probably collector's items... for some deranged collector.
Orleans was actually a good album, and the brain of the project, John Hall, is now a U.S. Congressman. That's the album "Still the One" was on. They sold so many rights for commercials, it most likely paid for Hall's campaign run by itself.
Most common comment from these band members today: "What the hell were we thinking?"
Yeah. Was in high school and actually sang to it (Still the One). There's Led Zep IV, which is pretty strange, I mean after II and III. But pick any Osmonds album, and Barry White! Sheeesh! But its the tunes on the vinyl that counts. But the dude with the pig in the pig pen and the guy with the sixteen year old are really disturbing
I've had "California, you're a dreamer.." as an ear-worm all day thanks to this article.
Those are some pretty horrific album covers.
Allan how do you know about "Orelans" and John Hall's involvement? I had never heard of the band before. Is Hall one of the five guys on the cover?
His official biography actually admits to his membership in the band - and an amazing diversity of things he has been involved in.
I don't think I want to know anything about most of the other bands.. though i am curious about the guy with the "hook" hand Jeff something. I wonder if he played an instrument.
What a relief! I haven't got a single one of those albums in my collection! God I'm soo....... lucky!!!!
John Hall is the guy in the front. He and his wife wrote all the songs. I used to have the album. Great harmonies on the vocals and the lyrics are somewhat sugary philosophical goodness based do right stuff.
I remember hearing that he was going political long ago. He left the band after this album, their first. The band had another release and a hit, "Dance with Me" written by the other bearded guy.
It is a shame the Halls left the band. The vocals worked so well together, they were on par with CSN and such.
I saw Congressman Hall on C-Span one day and the reporter started his introduction with a flash back to Hall's musical past which just seemed to embarrass the Congressman.
btw this post is a testament that humans have way too much junk in their heads. Want to know about the Allman Brothers? How about the Dead? Anyone know what they did with Jerry's ashes? You just can't do enough drugs to get this stuff purged.
lol - thanks for the additional information. My mind is full of equally useless trivia; just not about music.
70's TV? Thank goodness I don't follow sports. I quit watching when they quit letting me play. I walked into my local pub one day and asked who was playing. Everyone was crowded around the screen. The whole place went quiet. It was for the pennant and the local team was playing. Oops.
That sounds like a perfect setup for one of those Southwest Airlines commericals - where you wish you were somewhere else.
He still has a nice voice - and good patience :o) - I'm impressed. Sort of canned answers to the actual questions but I can't imagine it is easy to give anything more than that on Colbert.
And I recognized the "Still the One" song now. I'm thinking I may have owned that album when I was younger.
Just an FYI : It looks like "Dance with Me" might have been #69 on the Billboard Top Pop Charts of 1975 and "Still the One" was #12 or #81, I'm not sure which) in 1976 - at it's highest it reached #5 in the charts.
Based on those years I'm thinking maybe Hall was around for both songs.
I'm thinking I may have owned that album when I was younger.
Time to own up. Which other ones on the list are you "forgetting" about. : )
I'm certain I've never seen the pig one, the hook hand guy, the no hands lady, or any of the religious ones or that creepy bearded guy with the 16 year old, or, for that matter, the foreign ones. I didn't shop for foreign albums much as a kid.
I also don't own and have never owned the albums by the guy who is on the list twice (mouths and rats). I don't remember what else was on the list even :O)
I may have owned the Orleans album when I was a kid in 8-track form; I'll neither confirm or deny having actually owned it. But the possibility certainly exists.
8-track! Only real music fans listened to 8-track. You had to have patience for the regular
ka-chunk in the mix.
I was a kid (maybe 4-10 years old) I took whatever music my parents would buy; no patience required (other than the patience of waiting for my parents to pay for music).
I think we even had an 8track player built into our car for a while.
I think we even had an 8track player built into our car for a while.
Yes, weren't they amazing? :O)
This is what happens when you want to save money and not contact a good graphics designer, but think your kid can do it because he has PhotoShop on his Gateway.
Well, except that almost all of these albums were released before Photoshop or Gateway existed. Sometimes professionals make mistakes, too.
Oh Dennis.
No. I won't look.
Aw, come on... Did you not ever surf thru the record bins?
these are the worst album covers? these are all really awesome actually. I like every single one of them.
kitsch = funny /= bad
...deciding which one to use as my new avatar....
dude with pig in the pig pen...
Okay the woman without hands playing the organ - she was the best.
I've chosen this.
nice choice! A classic combination.
The irony is great.
yeah, but the pig pen guy looked vulnerable.
But Ren and Stimpy's great too.
Devastating Dave's cover nearly made me burst out laughing at work
Maybe you should get the T shirt.
Maybe you should get the T shirt.
It'll definately sned some laughter to passers by in the street, I might get one just for that novelty.
You think the rspca will be on my back if i buy the dog tshirt for my dog? hahaha
I was shocked, shocked to see Millie Jackson there.
'Memba her?
Now that gal had a foul mouth.
Iwas shocked, shocked to see Millie Jackson there.
I thought Millie's album cover the best of a dire bunch.
And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse....
