Rice: 'Pkk An Enemy Of The Us'

advertisement

Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, has promised "effective" action against Kurdish rebels launching attacks on Turkey from Iraq, calling them a "common enemy".

Her comments came before she landed in Turkey on Friday to discuss Ankara's strategy against Kurdish separatists in northern Iraq.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Condoleezza Rice is in Ankara today, no doubt making even more promises that the US has no intention of keeping.

I loved Istanbul ! I only saw Ankara and İzmir for a short time back around 1986 when we had a contract with the Ministry of Post and Telegraph for a Satellite/radio link connecting the three cities. Of course me with my love of water, I think I must have 100 photo's of the ferries ! That is one place I would love to go back and actually have time to play. In my working days, it was 99% work and very little play time.

Yeah, Istanbul is magical.

Izmir is cool too...sort of a cross between Miami and San Francisco.

But alas, I'm stuck in Ankara for now...
