Turkey demands PKK extraditions

advertisement

Turkey has given Iraq a list of Kurdish rebels and demanded their extradition.

Turkey's deputy PM said the list was handed to a high-level Iraqi delegation visiting Ankara. It was not immediately clear how many names it contained.

The visit by Iraqi and US officials is an attempt to avert a threatened Turkish ground attack on rebel bases inside Iraq.

Turkey has warned it will not tolerate more cross-border raids by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) rebels.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said on CNN-Turk television: "We gave a list of PKK leaders and asked for help from Iraq."

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

If Iraq wants to avoid a Turkish incursion it would be smart to do whatever they can to turn these people over.

Bombs are being dropped on innocent people, their houses are being reduced to ashes, women and children are being killed. Human rights are being violated; massacres, ethnic-cleansings and destruction of lives of civilians are being carried out in North Kurdistan (Turkey). Where are the champions of democracy, human rights, civil libraries, democracy and freedom? Why are they so silent about these crimes and atrocities being committed by Turkish military??

There are no ethnic cleansings or massacres in southeast Turkey. Sounds like you're falling for the PKK propaganda.

Things do need to improve there, but let's not blow it out of proportion.

The PKK are terrorists and murderers, and if Iraq doesn't want Turkey to come in after them, they'll have to do something about it themselves.

On another note, are you related to Massoud Barzani, the President of the KRG?
